Kitchen Cabinets – Replace Your Sink Cabinet Floor Comments Off on Kitchen Cabinets – Replace Your Sink Cabinet Floor

After a leak underneath your kitchen sink, there can be unsightly damage to the bottom board of your cabinet, or worse, a rotten board can result in the bottom board caving in altogether.

Rather than replace your cabinets, it may be best, and most affordable, to replace just that bottom board.  A replacement that can add years of life to your kitchen cabinets.

The Process to Replace the Bottom Board Underneath the Sink

All projects related to repair are started by understanding the situation.  Then, a repair is developed to repair the damage done.

First, determine the level of damage done to the board.  Is it still sturdy, but just unsightly?  Applying a covering to the board may be the best approach, as it is minimally invasive, yet will get the job done.

Is the board no longer structurally sound, and can no longer hold items?  For this sort of an issue, the board should be removed, a new foundation built to support the new board, and then a board installed to cover the opening.  Typically, in this case, the new board will be made of plywood, ensuring a strong foundation and many years of use ahead.
